Adding to the list of great things happening for Leah Flanagan in 2010, the NT singer/songwriter officially launched her new album ‘Nirvana Nights’ at Darwin Festival, August 26 at The Lighthouse. It is the artist’s second album, with her first ‘Tipsy Tango’, released in 2008.
The launch was also part of the Original Music Showcase presented by Music NT, as part of the iNTune Music Conference in Darwin.
Joining Leah on stage were special guests Brian Manning, Liz Stringer and Melanie Robinson.
Darwin Festival program notes: “A storyteller at heart and a multi-instrumentalist by nature, Leah Flanagan stirs up personal narratives that take flight and soar way above the local landmarks, loves and losses that inspire her music… She performs her unique blend of rootsy folk with underscores of smooth jazz. With her evocative imagery, she sashays amongst the delicate emotion and sophisticated style of a rising star.”
Leah Flanagan also performed at the Melbourne International Arts Festival alongside fellow NT artists Gurrumul Yunupingu, Ursula Yovich and Shellie Morris, in ‘Seven Songs To Leave Behind’ on October 23 at the Myer Music Bowl. They shareed the bill with Sinead O’Connor, John Cale, Ricki Lee Jones, Meshell Ndegeocello and Dan Sultan. Read more details on the Music NT website.
