The winners were officially announced on triple j, during program Lunch with Vijay Khurana between 1.30-2pm, Friday August 6th, with a track from The Moving Targets played to celebrate.  Alice winning band Catch The Fly – triple j Home and Hosed presenter Dom Alessio – were interviewed on Alice Springs ABC Local Radio on Drive with Rohan Barwick, also on Friday..

The Moving Targets have spent the last couple of years making great bitter-sweet indie-pop, releasing EP ‘A Sitting Duck’ and receiving airplay on triple j and ABC Local Radio. Frontman David Garnham was a finalist in the 2009 ‘Road To Tamworth’ Competition and also won a spot at this year’s prestigious Song Summit music conference in Sydney, representing the Northern Territory.

Catch The Fly are hardworking Alice Spring hip hop and soul artists, Dan N Dee and Sassy J. In their Unearthed profile they say, “we’ve taken Dan the Underdog – one of the most innovative producer/MCs Buffalo, NY has to offer – added McDee – one of the most creative MCs born and bred in the Red Centre – and mixed it up with the soulful sounds of Alice Springs’ own Sassy J. It’s a live show not to be missed by anyone into Hip Hop, Soul, R&B or good live music in general!!” Catch The Fly supported Victorian rapper Briggs on his NT tour earlier this year.

The Moving Targets and Catch The Fly showcased their musical talents in front of interstate ‘industry bigwigs’ attending the iNTune Music Conference, (including A&R reps, managers, label heads and festival organisers), plus a pumped hometown crowd.

Each band also shared the stage with Australian headline music acts: The Moving Targets on the bill with Worldfly (NT) at Darwin Festival, and Catch The Fly opened for Colourfide (Tennant Creek) at Alice Desert Festival.
