Music NT Indigenous Music Development Officer Micah Wenitong has just returned from Arnhem Land where he has been working with young musicians in communities, in conjunction with the East Arnhem Shire.

Micah’s job was to assist East Arnhem Shire Sports & Recreation Programs with set up and use of music equipment.

The aim was to network with young people participating in the Shire Sports & Recreation programs, to support and further develop music programs in remote communities.

Between October 26-29, Micah visited communities Gapuwiyak, Milingimbi, Galiwin’ku and Ramingining.

Micah had also been to these communities earlier in 2010. Music NT manager Mark Smith said that this was a really productive follow up visit for Micah. “It enabled him to reconnect with the musicians on the ground, help in the set up of the new gear and to keep connected with what is happening in the communities,” he said.
