APRA/AMCOS have launched a competition to send “four Indigenous acts to perform at Good Vibrations music festivals in 2011.”

Adam Lewis from APRA writes, “Jam Music and APRA are excited to announce that four Indigenous acts will have the opportunity to perform at the 2011 Good Vibrations Festivals in NSW, VIC, QLD or WA (one artist per Festival state) – opening the Roots Stage in their home state.” This includes artists from the Northern Territory.

The winners will have the chance to perform alongside international Good Vibrations artists Koolism (pictured), Erykah Badu and Ludacris.

Adam continues, “The competition is open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander bands whose members are 14+, and play live music in the style of Hip Hop, Soul, Funk, Dub or Reggae.” They “will also have the chance to meet some of the Good Vibrations Festival artists backstage.” Performers under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian.

The prize also includes reimbursement of travel expenses “up to a maximum of $1000″, plus “winners will get extra tickets to the festival.”

Music NT‘s Indigenous Music Development Office Micah Wenitong is one of the judges for the competition, alongside Rhoda Roberts, VIBE Australia; Kira Fong, Goolarri Media Enterprises; Bebe Backhouse, Goolarri Media Enterprises; Michael Hutchings, Gadigal Music and Jessie Lloyd, Songlines Music Aboriginal Corporation.

Applications close January 7, 2011. Apply online here. Winners will be announced January 31, 2011.
