Music NT would like to congratulate Jacinta Price for being named ‘Artist of the Year’ at the 2011 Alice Springs NAIDOC Awards!
Known for her soulful voice, Jacinta is a well-known singer and TV performer in Central Australia.
She is a member of rising Alice Springs hip hop trio Catch The Fly (as ‘Sassy J’), who performed a ripping showcase gig at the last Alice Springs Desert Festival.
She is also part of the Desert Divas, a showcase of young Indigenous women singers from Central Australia.
Jacinta is also a star of children’s television program ‘Yamba’s Playtime‘ which broadcasts on the Imparja Television Network.
Based in Alice Springs, Jacinta also works with Jajirdi Consultants, “presenting cross cultural awareness programs to visiting tourist and student groups and to participants from private industry, non-government and public service agencies”.
The local NAIDOC Awards ended a huge week of Indigenous celebration in Alice Springs.
The presentation was held on July 9, 2011 at the Old Melanka site across from CAAMA Studios, with music from Aboriginal acts Tjupi
Band, Iwantja Band and Warren H. Williams.
