Expressions of interest are open for the 2011 Desert Divas program!

Desert Divas is a Skills Development Program and Showcase for emerging contemporary Indigenous female singers, songwriters, rappers and musicians from Central Australia and the Barkly region.

Presented by Music NT,  it will run from September 7 – 9, 2011 in Alice Springs, with the Showcase Concert to be held on Saturday September 10th, as part of the Alice Desert Festival.

Last year’s Desert Divas had amazing outcomes in terms of ongoing performances and employment opportunities.

Jacinta Price (aka Castle) went on to win the 2011 Alice Springs NAIDOC ‘Artist of the Year’ Award; rapper Kylie Sambo now has toured and now has a national profile and Catherine Satour auditioned for TV’s X Factor and was invited to sing a 40 minute set at the Closing Ceremony of the 2011 National Congress of Australia’s First People in Sydney.

2010 Diva Jacinta Price (aka Jacinta Castle) – also ‘Sassy J’ from Alice hip hop trio Catch The Fly -  is on board to help coordinate the project. She can be contacted at mc.sassyj@gmail.com or by phone on 8952 0322 (w) or 0419 715 443.

Get in contact today – or tell someone you think might benefit from participating in the Desert Diva program!
