iNTune Darwin 2011 speakers

The 2011 iNTune Music Conference in Darwin included 20 interstate guests who ‘invaded’ Darwin August 18 & 19th, 2011, for the most important music industry event in the Territory!

Now in its third year, iNTune Darwin 2011 boasted the biggest industry names yet in its speaker line up:

Michael Chugg – Founder/Director of Chugg Entertainment; John Watson - Eleven Music, Manager (Silverchair, Missy Higgins, Cold Chisel, Goyte); Iain Shedden – music writer & critic for The Australian & The Weekend Australian newspapers, author; Esti Zilber – Sounds Australia; Countbounce (aka Pip Norman) – music producer and songwriter (TZU); Mark Pope – Producer of the ARIA Awards, Wave Aid, Live Earth and Sound Relief; Rick Chen – Co-Founder of Pozible.com crowd-funding platform; Ted Gardner – Cross Section Music, Ex Manager TOOL, Jane’s Addiction, Co-Founder of Lollapalooza; Jaddan Comerford - Staple Group, Boom Town Records; Anita Nedelijikovic – Way Out There (booker for Falls Festival, Grooving the Moo, Northcote Social Club + more); Rebekah Campbell – Posse.com; Tim Levinson (Urth Boy) – leading Australian hip hop artist and Co-Founder of Elefant Traks; Dom Alessio – Presenter of triple j’s Home & Hosed Oz music program;  Nick O’Byrne - General Manager of AIR (Australian Independent Record Labels Association); Stephen King – Principal Director of Media Arts Lawyers; Scott Mesiti – Director & Co-Founder Festival of the Sun, Director Cross Section music label; Clive Hodson – Partner & Director of Perfect Pitch Publishing and Chris Johnson – Manager of AMRAP (Australian Music Radio Airplay Project); Natalie Pa’apa’a – Blue King Brown and Carlo Santone – Blue King Brown/Lion House Records.

Local speakers included Kris Keogh – musician, producer, artist & designer; Nico Liengme – Darwin-based musician, photographer and promoter of Top End Terror, Zac East – musician, music promoter & social media strategist and Will Morris – musician, podcast producer and zine editor.

iNTune tee-shirts (see left) were also available at the Conference from the foyer at the iNTune venue, August 18-19, Vibe Medina Hotel & Conference Centre, Darwin Waterfront.

The annual Hot Shots music photography exhibition also showed concurrently with iNTune, showing some great art, musicians and bands to the local and interstate delegates and guests.

iNTune Darwin is also held to coincide with the National Indigenous Music Awards, also presented by Music NT.

The NIMAs are a shining showcase of NT and national Indigenous talent, held under the stars at the Amphitheatre in Darwin’s beautiful Botanic Gardens. 2011 marked the first year that the Awards have been national, and featured Dan Sultan, Shellie Morris, Iwantja Band, Coloured Stone, Warumpi Band, No Fixed Address – and more!! – in its star-studded concert line up.

The Territory is the place to be when it comes to exciting contemporary original music!
