The winners of the Music NT Hot Shots music photography competition have been announced!

• ‘Best Photo’ goes to Alice Springs-based photographer Oliver Eclipse, for ‘Mirror‘ (right), a picture he took of soul singer Dan Sultan on stage at Alice Desert Festival on 12th September, 2010.
• ‘Peoples Choice’ goes to Darwin-based photographer Nico Liengme for ‘Portals?‘ (below), a picture he took of Alice Springs death-metal band Miazma at the ‘Descent Alice Springs’ gig, on April 23rd, 2011.

Congratulations to the winners! And also to everyone who entered!

Both winners will recieve a $50 iTunes voucher as a prize.

The judges for ‘Best Photo’ Award were Cameron Boon (Centralian Advocate), Justin Sanson (NT News) and Russell Brown (Darwin Camera House).

Votes for the ‘Peoples Choice’ Award were tallied from ‘likes’ in the Hot Shots album on Music NT’s Facebook page, along with votes made at both Hot Shots 2011 exhibitions in Darwin and Alice Springs.

An annual competition and exhibition presented by Music NT, Hot Shots is all about celebrating original music in the Northern Territory.

Eligible photos are either of musicians performing in the Northern Territory, or, of Northern Territory artists performing in the NT or elsewhere.

Forty entries were received from all over the Territory. They were of a high calbre and it took some time for the judges final decision to be made.
