Darwin band Worldfly are raising funds through crowd-funding platform pozible.com to raise money for their next album, ‘For The Dreamers’.
The band say they are “recording their second album with producer Jimi Maroudas (Eskimo Joe, Kimbra)”, and are hoping to raise $20 000 in 90 days as their target, the deadline being January 29, 2012.
Worldfly is “calling on friends, fans, philanthropists and music lovers to get involved with this project and help us fund this album independently. Your help will go a long way to making this album great and we want to reward everybody who believes in us. We want you to be the first ones to hear the music, to come backstage with us and to have your name engraved in the WF Hall of Fame! Have a look at our rewards to see which one suits you.“
Supporters will be ‘rewarded’ at the various donation levels, with incentives and packages including behind-the-scenes access, signed albums, collectors packs, tee-shirts, downloadable versions of the album, first access to the band’s new music, and much more.
Two days after launching the fund-raising campaign, Worldfly messaged fans on Facebook, saying “Hey guys. We’re overwhelmed by such such generosity so early. We made 10% of our target in the first 2 days. Thanks for your support and kindness. We look forward to sending your rewards, you will be the first to hear it.”
Worldfly members are Michael Maher, Rebecca Harris, Jarren Boyd, Stewart Taylor and Brad Jackson.
The popular NT band has worked hard to build a large local and international fan base, and say on their Facebook page they are busy “writing and rehearsing”, with plans for a tour and shows “after [the] album next year”.
