Alice Springs musician Ben Allen will be the feature artist on Mornings with Tatjana Clancy this Friday, in the last live n’ local music segment for 2011.
The Mornings program on local ABC Radio in Alice Springs is one of NT music’s most consistent and enthusiastic supporters, featuring a local artist from Alice Springs and region every Friday, in their regular segment at 10am.
Local musician Ben Allen – who also plays under the name Yellow Streetlight and Broadwing – was a performer a the Feedback on 5ive Acoustic session at iNTune Music Conference in Alice Springs, in September.
He made he made a big impression on the industry judges present to provide constructive feedback to performers, with his powerful voice, distinctive songwriting and intimate acoustic style.
Busy working on new material in his home studio, Ben has been selected as the last feature artist for the year, and in addition to giving an interview will play live – including a little surprise!
Excited by Ben’s upcoming appearance, ABC producer Lauren Fitzgerald says Ben “is even helping us out with a little Christmas song to lead us into the final part of our show for the year!”

Countless local musicians were featured during 2011 on 783 Alice Springs, with musicians appearing weekly across the program grid, including Mornings.
Previous music acts featured on the Friday slot on Mornings this year have been Small Jupiter, The Sky’s The Limit, Colin Lillie – another Feedback on 5ive Acoustic performer – the Desert Divas, Unbroken Expanse, Catch The Fly, Mark Smerdon/Iwantja Band, Ronja Moss, Bec Matthews and many, many more.
Music NT’s Milyika Scales also made regular appearances with Tatjana, to fill her in on current music news around Alice Springs and region.
Rumour has it that Desert Diva singer Kirra Voller and musician/producer David Crowe (Mammoth Logic) have also been invited to feature artists on Mornings once the program resumes in 2012.
