Rico Adjrun appointed to Radio National

Music NT Forum member Rico Adjrun – and talented NT electronic artist – has been appointed ”Co-Producer” of Radio National‘s Indigenous culture program, Awaye. He will remain based at ABC Darwin (1 Cavanagh Street). In his new role Rico will be “constantly on the lookout for stories that educate in Aboriginal arts and culture – no matter if the story is ‘grand’ or ‘grassroots’,” he wants to “hear about it!”

Mandawuy Yunupingu is the subject of this week’s episode of Australian Story, “Message From Mandawuy”. The episode sees the former Yothu Yindi singer tell of his his fight against kidney disease and is introduced by Jimmy Little. The episode will be repeated Saturday at 12.30pm on ABC1, and it will also available online. Read more here.

ABC radio presenter Tim Ritchie continues his love affair with NT music, post-iNTune Music Conference. Under the banner “Northern Blasts”, this Friday 25/9/09 he will feature tracks by Blastcorp, Semishigure and Red Plum & Snow on his program ‘Sound Quality’. It will be also be available online from Sound Quality website.
