Darwin singing star Jessica Mauboy and Arnhem Land dance performers Chooky Dancers performed alongside Jimmy Barnes, Ross Wilson, The McLymonts, Little Red and a host of other Australian music stars in the ‘Australia Celebrates!’ concert, on January 25.

The Concert was held in front of a 35 000-strong audience, on the lawns of Parliament House.

It was broadcast nationally on ABC-TV, on the eve of the 2011  Australia Day holiday.

The Concert was also aired on ABC Local Radio across the country.

Hosted by Spicks & Specks star Myf Warhurst, Jessica Mauboy and the Chooky Dancers performed live on stage, with the telecast including live crosses to flood-affected areas in Australia.

The Chooky Dancers wowed the crowd with their spectacular and energetic Bollywood-inspired dance number, clad in traditional dress.

Jessica Mauboy is also one of fifty-nine Australian and international artists who have donated songs to a new 3-CD compilation, ‘FLOOD RELIEF – Artists For The Flood Appeal’, with sales going to raise money for the national flood relief, out through Sony Music.

Elcho Island’s Chooky Dancers (pictured) will feature at this year’s Adelaide International Arts Festival (February 26 – March 14), in a collaboration with award-winning theatre director Nigel Jamieson, called ‘Ngurrumilmarrmiriyu’ (“Wrong Skin”).
