The Garrangali Band CD launch at Yiplara on March 24, 2010 was the culmination of lots of hard work over two years, including recording, training, mixing and mastering, producing and post production, and lots of other things in between.

This album ‘Garrangali’ (Crocodile Nest) is a unique and innovative enterprise development opportunity from the youth and community of Yilpara, and is an exciting celebration of dedication, initiative and hard work. Music crosses all borders and boundaries, seeking to infuse, unite and engage.

The lyrics and Manikays of this album embraces the deep connection and relationship between the ancestral land and sea and the visions of the old people, strengthened by strong community spirit and cultural integrity. The album package features a DVD that includes music videos of two featured songs, ‘Mungurru’ and ‘Muthi Muthi’.

Crassic Park to launch EP

Music NT Forum members Crassic Park will launch new EP this Friday December 4 at Brown’s Mart. Supports include a veritable royal roll-call of heavy-duty Darwin bands including Slaughtertoall, Semishigure, ZEDMAJOR, newcomers Hooch (ex-Moses) and Blastcorp. Wiya Angela Pamela! single launch

Alice Springs band Super Raelene Bros will team up this Friday December 4 with Western Arrarnta and Luritja musicians known as ”The Little Sisters Collective”, to release single ‘Wiya! Angela Pamela’. The song is performed in Luritja and Western Arrarnta, with a smattering of English scattered across a deeply funky dance groove reminiscent of 90’s hit, ‘Treaty’.

The single launch will take place on the Alice Springs Council Lawns. The free event is supported by the Arid Lands Environment Centre and will feature performances by various local artists, speeches, information stalls and a Nuclear Free BBQ. More here.

Dr. Strangeways to release debut album

Desert-ska-funk band Dr. Strangeways will launch their debut album ‘Strange New World’ on Saturday November 7 at Ki Warehouse, Alice Springs. Produced at Red House Studios, the band worked with CAAMA’s Bill Davis (aka ‘Big Bear”) and Melbourne-based sound engineer Michael Den Elzen. Dr. Strangeways will also play at this year’s Woodford Folk Festival at the end of December. Visit their website.

New metal website launched for NT

Top End Terror is a new website that’s been set up to support and promote metal in the Territory. It’s a great resource, forum and online community for the NT’s metal bands, seemingly growing daily in number, right now sitting pretty at 12. Top End Terror has also been involved in programming metal nights at various Darwin venues, including Happy Yess and Time. Visit the Top End Terror website

VROOM NT Launched

The VROOM NT website was launched last night in Darwin giving musicians and venues access to a database of venues to enable greater access to touring through out the NT and Australia. VROOM is in BETA phase at its launch and is ready for musicians to start using it. Check it out here

CD launch for 2Cats1 Hat

Hello… Okay? (Come here Tom) is the name of the debut EP by Darwin all-female hip-hop outfit, 2 Cats 1 Hat.

They launched it on Friday, May 8 2009 at Studio 93, Darwin Entertainment Centre, supported by Kris Keogh (Blastcorp).

The Cats returned to DEC’s Studio after playing to a crowded house there on February 6th, 2009, as part of the ‘Jam In The Wet’ series of live + local artists, where they wowed the audience with an energetic cabaret-style show.
