Today is the culmination of the last 4 years of work by organisations and individuals across the Territory and the country to support NT music making and the growth of the broader sector. Beginning with the Economic Study and Venue Census in 2017, through successes in partnership with HospitalityNT such as recognising music as low-risk and an incentive in Liquor Licensing applications, to the creation of the first ever NT Women’s Music Plan. With this launch of the NT live Music Strategy, we aim to take the next step towards the recognition of the NT as the beating heart of creative and cultural expression nationally.
The strategy sets out recommendations for the growth of the sector across these four areas with initiatives and recommendations informed through consultation, seeking to build the industry over the next few years. Developed by Craig Spann of Sugar Rush in partnership with a number of organisations locally and nationally this document represents a step forward in highlighting the strength of the Live Music Sector.
