From Yulara in the south to Mataranka up north, towns are humming with music. Community bands, touring artists, schools, local festivals – all playing a vital role in celebrating culture, language and unity. But the instruments used to create that music are in danger of being loved to death. Guitars are often shared among numerous bands, drumkits used around the clock, and PA systems pushed to the limit to keep the music going. And don’t mention the red dust.

That’s where the Fix’Em Up Truck comes in.

This unique project will see experienced instruments repairers and technicians travelling to communities
across the NT giving instruments some much needed love.

Learning important gear maintenance skills

More importantly, the team will pass on valuable knowledge and skills to ensure instruments and other music gear remains in top condition. Much like resourceful ‘bush mechanics’ repair their cars, the vision is to equip communities with the skills and parts to maintain and repair their music gear.

The truck will also be a crucial distribution point for those essentials all but impossible to source in remote areas – guitar strings and picks, drum sticks and skins, leads, parts and more. It’s a simple idea but one that will make a huge difference to the talented artists now and well into the future.

Your donations, however big or small, can make a real impact on regional and remote Territory musicians. For example:

$25 can buy a set of drum sticks or a soldering iron
$50 can buy 2 sets of electric guitar strings
$100 can be a few microphone XLR cables

$250 can buy a drum skin set
$450 can buy an entry-level cymbal pack

$1000–2000 can buy a PA speaker or two
$2000+ can buy a set of Yamaha drum shells & hardware.
